About Me

yzlt
I am a Fine Arts graduate from New Zealand. Working in Interior Design in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore) for the past year, I gained invaluable experience and realized my passion for designing spaces. I am interested in the idea of space as a luxury as it is in densely populated environments. In particular I enjoy working with the awkward and leftover spaces that prove to be a challenge in terms of functionality of a space as a living environment. Having travelled a lot and coming from a mixed Chinese and New Zealand background, finding a sense of place is of great personal importance. I plan to explore the idea of home as sanctuary. I am interested in contrasts – the tension between inside/outside, comfort/discomfort, old/new, function/aesthetics. I am slightly obsessed with the material qualities of marble and wood grain. Coming from a conceptual art background at university, I am studying for the MA ISD at Chelsea with the intention to gain more practical skills and a better grounding and understanding of interior design.
